The food program is open Monday thru Friday from 9:30 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 3:00. We provide emergency food for 3 days. Basic foods provided are canned vegetables and fruit, rice, pasta, beans, cereal, tuna, soup canned or powdered milk, when available. Call us for details on necessary documents to bring.
We collect school supplies and uniforms to help children of families that could not afford to buy the supplies required by the school system. We collect polo shirts, slacks, blue jeans, socks, backpacks, notebooks, pens, paper products, and other items.
Clients are allowed to pick up 3 outfits for each family member every 30 days. All clients, including those living within Columbia County, can benefit from this program. Everything we have in the clothes closet are donations provided through the generosity of the people in this community. We also accept linens, kitchen, and other small household items.
Gainesville Harvest is a program that provides us with bread from local supermarkets. On Thursday mornings at 8:30, anyone can use this service. Through Gainesville Harvest, we also pick up pizza, pasta, and breads from Pizza Hut once a week. This provides us with extra groceries.
During the month of October, clients sign up for the Thanksgiving dinner program. With the help of area churches and donations from this community, we give baskets and gift certificates to families, that otherwise would not be able to celebrate this day. Last year, with your help over 250 families gathered around their tables and were able to celebrate & share Thanksgiving dinner together.
Our clients sign their children ages 10 and under on our Christmas Angel Wish list for presents. Angels are placed on Christmas trees throughout the community at places such as the local libraries, banks, churches, businesses and other locations. Local clubs and members of the community also stop by our office to pick up Angels Wishes. Because of people like you, Angels are adopted and Christmas wishes come true for these children.
